2019 Oscars QuickViews

One of the biggest conversations leading up to the 91st Academy Awards was will the Oscars be better without a traditional host? In my opinion, yes it was!

The show went smoother than any year in history and from the looks of it the ratings were higher than last year’s.

Everyone that won was a sure thing since the Golden Globes with a few surprises: Olivia Colman for Best Actress instead of Glenn Close and BlacKkKlansman winning Best Adapted Screenplay instead of A Star Is Born.

The only thing I thought fell short were Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph’s introduction of Best Supporting Actress. Their interaction came off as being somewhat awkward. Some of the other acceptance speeches seemed to lack the direction needed to keep 3 hours of awards entertaining.  Lets just chalk it up to nervousness!

Overall, this year’s Oscars have really improved since the last time Billy Crystal hosted in 2012.
