Dunkirk – QuickViews

August 10, 2017 // in QuickView - Micro Reviews by David Deverett, Studios

From Christopher Nolan, the acclaimed writer, and director of The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception and Interstellar, comes his next masterpiece: Dunkirk.

Based on true events, the film takes place in 1940 at 3 distinct locations: land, sea, and air. Dunkirk tells the story of how 400,00 men survived getting off The Beach of Dunkirk to go home.

While Nolan’s writing is the weakest part of the film (lack of dialogue), what shines the most are his directing, the cinematography by Hoyte Van Hoytema, the sound design supervised by Richard King and its score by Hans Zimmer.

Even though Dunkirk won’t be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Christopher Nolan, it’s still worth going to see in theaters thanks to how loud it is and since it’s in the race for lots of nominations including Best Picture come awards season.
