First Man QuickViews

From Damien Chazelle, the Academy Award winning director of Whiplash and La La Land, comes his next magnum opus: First Man.

Taking place from 1961 to 1969, the film tells the story of Neil Armstrong (Ryan Gosling), a man who becomes part of NASA’s history by becoming the first man to walk on the moon (hence the movie’s title) through his trip on Apollo 11.

While some people will look at their clocks thinking “How long is this movie?” and find the dialogue by Josh Singer (The Fifth Estate, Spotlight, The Post) weak, critics have praised the film for Gosling and Claire Foy’s incredible performances as Neil and Janet Armstrong, Chazelle’s spectacular directing and the amazing visuals that’ll make you feel like you’re going to the moon too.
