The 2018 Golden Globes Review

January 12, 2018 // in QuickView - Micro Reviews by David Deverett

Seth Meyers’ jokes, Oprah’s powerful speech and James
Franco’s unexpected win are just some of the highlights
from 2018’s Golden Globe Awards.

Kicking off the night, Seth Meyers’ opening monologue was
incredibly unexpected as he was funny, charming and
never crossed the line too much with what said.

Throughout the evening I was mostly happy for whoever
won, knowing they deserved a Golden Globe for their work.
When it came to Oprah’s Cecil B. DeMille award speech, she
knocked it out of the park. Not only did she talk about how
lucky she is to be a part of the industry, but also gave hope
to women that a “brighter day” was coming and that day
was now.

The most unexpected surprise was James Franco’s win for
The Disaster Artist in Best Musical or Comedy. I would’ve
picked Hugh Jackman for The Greatest Showman to have
won instead.

Overall, this year’s Golden Globes show was a great way to
start off 2018, and was also filled with fun, surprises and
moments I’ll never forget for the rest of my life.
